Village SOS is a major new initiative from the Big Lottery Fund (BIG) and the BBC, who are searching for six UK villages with a great business idea and six enterprising individuals to act as ‘Village Champions’ and help them achieve their ambitions.
In the last six years, the Partnership has linked the public, private sector and community together towards the common goal of transforming Scarborough from a declining seaside resort to a quality town by the sea with an optimistic future. The results have been dramatic. It has helped transform Scarborough with strong leadership and genuine community involvement at its core.
The Cumbria-based organisation was recognised in the 2008 Enterprising Britain competition for its success in inspiring a low-skill, low-wage, low-aspiration population to become enterprising.
The Network, which is made up of a group of organization supporting enterprise in the area, has been instrumental in highlighting Tynedale as an area of outstanding enterprise achievement.
